A collection of accounts that happened during World War II aboard submarines.  Includes pictures and break-out sections that give more information to flesh out the story.  Told in narrative form, the stories bring this period of time to life and provides information most wouldn't know and will be amazed to find out.  The formatting of the book really makes it!

Popular sports writer, Mike Lupica, has scored again with additions to his growing collection of sports stories. Something he does well is to include girl main characters so his books aren't exclusively for boys. Instead of just being about the action of the game, he threads other story lines that make the story well-rounded and dimensional.  His book, Fantasy League, was on the short list for 6th Grade Book of the Year last year.  Sports fans should check these out!

A beginning chapter book with ten books currently in the series.  The illustrations on almost every page really add to the charm of the book.  The sweet adventures will keep girls coming back for more. Additions to the series are being published quite quickly which make it nice!

Four children have been selected to enter a new candy making contest. Each of the four have something unique about them and it becomes apparent that one of them has to be a spy. The descriptions of the candy alone makes for mouth-watering reading and the ending is surprising!

Word of Mouse
RU Level: 4th Grade

A mouse with blue fur that can read and talk to humans is the hero in this fun new book by James Patterson.  While there are many books that feature mice as the main character, this is another that will have you cheering for the main character, Isaiah. There is just something like a little mouse to show how believing in oneself and working with courage can help achieve the impossible.  May be fun to compare and contrast with the other mice books??
